General Summary
Donna has been a nurse and advanced practice nurse for close to 2 decades. She earned her Masters in Nursing as a CNS – Adult Health and has practiced predominantly in Medical Oncology/Hematology. She earned advanced certification in Advanced Practice Oncology Nursing in 2003 (AOCN). Her goal as a provider is to ensure that her patients understand their diagnosis and recommended treatment as well as possible.
For most of her career, she has actively broadened her expertise in pain and symptom management, predominantly for oncologic diagnoses. She was an integral part of expanding Seton Family of Hospitals Inpatient Palliative Care Service. She has guest lectured on Palliative Care, and Pain Management for multiple regional conferences and at The University of Texas at Austin Nursing School.
Cancer treatment and care of today is a rapidly evolving field with sometimes dizzying changes. Donna prides herself on her knowledge of the advancing edge of therapies. She is excited to play a role in patients‘ participation in the many promising clinical research trials offered at Texas Oncology, as these treatments often represent the standard of care of the future.
