Research Interest
Dr. Eshed specializes in the care of women with gynecologic cancers including cervical, uterine or endometrial, ovarian, vulvar, and vaginal cancers. Dr. Eshed has extensive experience in minimally invasive surgery including laparoscopic and Da Vinci robotic surgery, complex pelvic surgery, and radical cytoreductive surgery for advanced cancers, as well as chemotherapeutic and novel biologic treatments for gynecologic cancers.
She is actively involved in clinical trials to individualize patient care and improve patients’ outcomes and quality of life. She has authored over a dozen peer-reviewed publications and presents lectures nationally and internationally on research in gynecologic cancers. She was the recipient of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Young Investigator Award grant for her research efforts in minimally invasive gynecologic cancer surgery.
Dr. Eshed is the principal investigator in USOR 17052 using an anti-PD1 monoclonal antibody REGN2810 vs. investigator’s choice chemotherapy for metastatic or recurrent platinum resistant cervical cancer.
Other Information
Originally from Tennessee, Dr. Helen Dinkelspiel Eshed graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College. She received her medical degree from Albany Medical College before completing residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California Davis. She then completed fellowship training in Gynecologic Oncology at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and Weill Cornell Medical College in New York, NY.
In addition to her clinical, academic, and research pursuits, Dr. Eshed has competed in many Ironman, marathons, and triathlons, including the USAT Olympic National Championships and Ironman 70.3 World Championships.
