Stephen L. Richey, M.D., MPH, FACP

Education
Dr. Richey received a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology in 1998 from Louisiana State University A&M, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, his Master of Public Health from the School of Public Health at Louisiana State University Health Science Center in New Orleans, and his medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Science Center School of Medicine in New Orleans. Dr. Richey completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, where he was chief resident.

Prior to joining Texas Oncology, Dr. Richey completed his hematology/oncology fellowship at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he served as chief hematology fellow. While at MD Anderson, Dr. Richey was active in genitourinary cancer clinical research and authored and co-authored numerous articles in peer reviewed journals, as well as presenting at national conferences. Dr. Richey has expertise in the treatment of genitourinary malignancies (kidney, bladder, prostate, testicular cancers) breast cancer, lung cancer, head and neck cancers, gastrointestinal malignancies, lymphoma and leukemia.

Research Interest
Dr. Richey is a member of the US Oncology Network Translational Oncology Program (Phase 1 Drug Development ) and also serves on the US Oncology Genitourinary Cancer Research Committee, the US Oncology Research Executive Committee, and the Texas Oncology board of directors. He is active in clinical research and is the principle investigator of clinical trials for various malignancies. Dr. Richey has expertise in immunotherapy treatments for melanoma, kidney cancer and lung cancer among other tumor types.

Dr. Richey and his wife are the proud parents of three daughters.
